Bandana Jain showcases artworks at India Design ID 2024 from February 15 - 18
Mumbai-based sustainability artist Bandana Jain is displaying her new collection of artworks ‘On Paper Of Paper‘ (O.P.O.P) at the Apparao Art Gallery from February 15 to 18. The artworks and exhibition design have been put together by Ankon Mitra, for the India Design ID festival in Delhi, where paper artists from across the country will display their works. This is after Jain started 2024 with a bang by showcasing her unique and engaging works ‘An Ode to Consumerism‘ at the prestigious Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in January 2024.
This is after Jain started 2024 with a bang by showcasing her unique and engaging works ‘An Ode to Consumerism‘ at the prestigious Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in January 2024.

The artist, who is known for her keen eye for detail and focus on sustainability, has made functional art that she started working on in 2021. It is also the first time that she has taken a bold step and worked on ergonomics to give a better seating experience.

Talking about the inspiration, Jain shares, “Since childhood, I have had a minimalist upbringing because of my mother. Later on, I started buying things based on brand or status but suddenly I realised that it is not something I identify with and certainly not something that makes me happy. That is when this idea came to my mind.”

This series will definitely pique the interest of art enthusiasts, who will get to see Jain’s artworks like never before in her career. As she uses a new approach and different type of execution, Jain is humble to admit that there were challenges but one look at the artworks will tell you that she has dealt with them head on to produce fine pieces of artworks that will grab eyeballs immediately.

Interwoven Destinies
Clustered Connection
Dune

Pushing the limits of her artistic capabilities, Jain has used thread with cardboard for one artwork ‘Interwoven Destinies’. She has not only given the feel of fabric to the artwork but also captured the behaviour of fabric when it gets stretched because of thread. In another piece ‘Clustered Connections’, there is an interplay between fabric and buttons and personally her favourite among the exhibits. For her third creation called ‘Child’s Play‘, the artist has shown the emotions of childhood at play depicting the warm pressure on the face, and is excited to see how people react to it as it comes from a childhood memory. Last but not the least, ‘Dune’ is the fourth and final artwork that will be on display at the prestigious festival.
